Innes Trophy Competition
On Friday 30th September - Sunday 2nd October London Wing Air Cadets took part
in the yearly Innes Sword Competition. There were too many squadrons there to
mention (26 in total) but congratulations to the winners 241 squadron who went
home with the actual sword.
The Innes Sword Competition is a competition made to test the will, strength,
stamina and teamwork of many Air Cadet Squadrons. The seven or more fittest or
best cadets from each squadron participated in this prestigious event hosted
in Crowborough Training Camp.
All squadrons showed dedication and absolute resilience during the
competition. There were no problems with behaviour or any violations, so
over-all it was a superb event.
We 282 squadron began with: Drill, Orienteering, Speed March, Command Tasks,
First Aid, Obstacle Course and finally Shooting. Which we nearly completed in
one day!
The cadets from 282 squadron that attended were C/WO Akhtar, Sgt Jurado, Cpl
Ajaelu, Cpl Khan, Cdt Lock, Cdt Hyland... nearly forgot his name! Cdt Webb and
obviously me Cdt Simon.
Surprisingly Sgt Jurado wasn't the worst at obstacle course climbing! She was
beaten to it by Cpl Ajaelu! who struggled three times during the wall climb.
But the medal goes to Cdt Hyland who claimed that he was over-confident
shooting and missed the target a few times!
But seriously now, all cadets put extreme effort into the competition and
although we were not all equal in fitness we were all equal in heart.
We all hope to do better next year as do all squadrons, except 241! But to do
that we need to stay focused, committed and as a team. ''Que Je Surmonte'' -
That I overcome.
