REACH FOR THE SKY QUIETLY
Cadets
get the chance to go above the clouds in a glider. The Starting point for
your gliding experience will be at a Volunteer Gliding School (VGS) which will
fly either Vigilant motor gliders or Viking winch launch gliders. You will begin
by attending, with others from your Squadron or CCF unit, your affiliated VGS to
be taught the Gliding Induction Course (GIC). You can further your training by
taking up scholarships and get your own wings!
Learn to fly before you drive!
Cadet
Flight Sergeant Akhtar and Cadet Sergeant Khan have both successfully
completed their Gliding Scholarships. On 21st January 2005, F/Sgt
Akhtar was awarded his Blue wings and a certificate. Sgt Khan went a step
further by going solo and achieving his Silver Wings.
New cadets reach for new heights!
Early February, Cadets Hyland and Pell successfully completed their first Gliding
Induction Course.
Only another 2 GIC courses to go, then its on to your
Scholarships....WELL DONE
3 cadets go up, up, and away
On
Sunday 17th April, Corporal Sullivan, Cadet Pell, and Cadet Lock went
to do their GICs at MDP Weathersfield. It was a sunny day which made perfect
conditions for gliding. Soon they will be doing their gliding scholarships and
maybe go on to train younger cadets.
“I liked it when we practised our
stalls, it was fun when we fell a couple of feet”, stated by Cadet Lock.
