Cadet Sergeant McDermott and Cadet Corporal Kirabira were part of a select few to attend a special flight in an RAF Dominie up at RAF Cranwell, home of the Royal Air Force.

Invited by Officer Commanding 55 (reserve) Squadron (Who was an ex-cadet from 338 Squadron), the cadets escorted by Sgt (ATC) Chris Booty travelled to RAF Cranwell for an overnight stay, ready to begin flying first thing the next morning.

The Dominie T1 is used to train weapon systems officers and operators, air engineers and air loadmasters in systems management, air leadership, decision making and teamwork. The cadets received a great insight to this aircraft.

After a detailed brief, the cadets were kitted up with flying suits and equipment, then walked out to the Aircraft. With three sorties, the cadets each had around 30 minutes in the air, visiting many local landmarks.

After the flight, OC 55 (reserve) Squadron invited the cadets to a tour of 55 (reserve) Squadron and ended with a discussion on the past, present and future of the Squadron.

"The flight was amazing.....certainly something different" as said by Cadet Corporal Kenneth Kirabira.

We thank Wing Commander Mark Manwaring, OC 55 (reserve) Squadron, for inviting London Wing to his Squadron at RAF Cranwell, and giving cadets the chance to fly in one of the Royal Air Force's aircraft.

"Certainly an experience to remember" said Cadet Sergeant McDermott.
