The Squadron battled the heat and was on parade for the first Veterans/Armed Forces Day parade in the London Borough of Newham. The Squadron was asked to raise the Union Jack for Newham, a huge honour for the Unit!

The cadets manned a recruitment stand and spoke to many visitors. All the Borough Councillors turned up and were greatly pleased to see 282 Squadron representing the Cadet Forces in Newham.

"It was a great honour for me to raise the National Flag during the National Anthem, made me feel proud of my country and indeed my Squadron. It sent shivers down my spine!" as said by Cadet Sergeant Martin McDermott.

Cadet Sergeant Andrew Simon gave the Deputy Mayor of Newham a tour round the stands while the cadets spread the word of the Cadet organisation around the park.

"It was a fantastic day and was greatly honoured to be chosen to raise the National flag. We are the public eye for our Armed Forces and we try our best to represent them. We will always remember those that have and do fight for our country. Well done to all those that turned up to share this celebration", as said by Sergeant (ATC) Chris Booty.
