LASER Regional Commandant, Group Captain Hakin, visits the Squadron as part of a routine inspection. Group Captain Hakin has nearly 200 Squadrons under his command and visits each of them every couple of years.

Group Captain Hakis was impressed with the status of the Squadron and its future. Staffing has been an issue throughout the Air Training Corps, however the Squadron is lucky to have a strong staff team who have a variety of qualifications that help the cadets undertake a large variety of activities. Group Captain Hakin was pleased to hear that many of the staff are applying for either a Commission or Senior Non-commissioned Officer role within the Air Cadets.

One of the Cadet Corporals had recently completed his Gliding Scholarship and achieved Solo standard, thus receiving his Silver Wings. Cadet Corporal Kirabira was presented his certificate and wings by the Group Captain. Cpl Kirabira has also been chosen to go for his Gold Wings and become a member of the Flight Staff at the local gliding school.
