DURING the busiest weekend of them all; the weekend before
Christmas, whilst everyone was rushing around doing their last
minute shopping and preparing for the perfect Christmas, 282’s Top Crew were out in force spreading some festive joy amongst the shoppers and local community at ASDA Supermarket it Beckton. With the generous support of the ASDA staff, the Squadron Staff, Cadets and Civilian Committee members helped customers pack their bags during this hectic period.

Even though most were feeling the pinch of the Credit Crunch,
the kind hearted members of the public still managed to donate
their spare change towards the Squadron’s collection which will be used to fund Squadron activities in the future and buy more
training equipment for the Cadets to benefit from.
In addition to all their hard work at the tills, the Cadets put on a
continuity drill display which impressed the public immensely. Cadets were receiving comments like: “You all are a credit to the community” and “Your discipline sets a great example for the youth of today.”
The Store Manager at the Beckton Store was so impressed with
the cadets’ efforts that they were asked to return on Christmas
Eve and assist further.
One of the workers at the tills added: “Ever since the cadets have started helping out every Christmas, our job has become so much easier. The cadets are smart and very courteous. We are grateful for what the cadets do for us especially at such a busy time. We thank them all for their support and can’t wait for them to return at Easter”.
