5-a-side Football February ‘06’ saw the inter-squadron football competition held at Mile End Stadium. 282 entered all categories. Despite it snowing and the squadron sports kit consisting of just shorts and t-shirt (shiver shiver), the cadets still went onto the pitch with heads high. Although the coldness seemed not to be an issue as the boys junior and girls open won their first 2 matches and managed to reach the semi-finals! The girls won both matches by miles, with Cadet Sherman (f) scoring all goals, it seemed like no squadron would stop her from winning. The boy’s junior also won their first 2 games by miles and got just as far as the girls. CDT Sherman (f) was obviously ‘cadet of the day’, with Wing physical training members chasing her for the Wing team! I/CWO Akhtar, I/SGT Halai, CPL Khan, CDT Singh and CDT Guadalup were in the boys open. They also played extremely well against 1838, the squadron who knocked us out last year. It was 1-1 and came to penalties. It was out of 1 penalty (dodgy ref decision) and 1838 took it. Junior boys consisted of CDT Hyland, CDT Simon, CDT Amir, CDT Savvides, Cdt Rodrigues and CDT Flynn. Girls open consisted of I/SGT Jurado, CPL Nwike, CPL Atakora, CDT Tamara and the star of the day, CDT Sherman. WELL DONE to everyone, it was a 150% improvement from last year, what would have happened if we had an extra week training?... Be proud of yourselves! 282 TOPCREW! |
